HK Hotel View

I made it to Hong Kong despite still being really tired from the PS3 experience. It’s like 27 degrees here. Just when it was getting nice and cool in Tokyo too…HK seems very interesting. I think I will have a lot of fun here. Even though I haven’t left the hotel yet I have some initial impressions. Lots of tall condominiums, you have either a mountain view or ocean view. I haven’t seen any roadsters or mazdas yet. Lots of Mercedes. Urban decay is actually nice to look at. Above is the view from my hotel room. Can you guess which hotel this is? OK, venturing out to get something to eat.

looks like Excelsior? have fun in HK, it’s my hometown, and I’m quite sure you’ll have a good time there.

Wow look at all that smog. I don’t remember HK being so smoggy. Guess it’s all drifting over from mainland China. Who would want to live in that?

I can’t guess your hotel but that tall brown building across the water is one of NK’s newest and most upscale high-rise condo complexes.

As an architecture buff, one of all-time favorites is the Hong Kong Bank by Norman Foster. I’m not sure if it’s still called that but you should check it out. I’d love to see some photos of it.

Hong Kong Bank? Yes, it’s still called that…

You can get some nice (night) time shots of it from the roof of the 2 storey car park next to the Central Star Ferry Terminal (which has just closed for demolition I believe).

You might get a curious security guard checking you out though - that’s what happened to me.

Otherwise, best shots of HK skyline is from Kowloon, from the Avenue of the Stars.
