Tokyo Sky

The sky over Tokyo is almost always gray. Even when it’s blue it’s gray, kind of. And there are hardly ever any noticeable cloud formations. So whenever a remotely interesting sky appears I stop to appreciate it. The best time to enjoy the air and sky is right after a typhoon because it flushes all the crud from the atmosphere like a big detox. A typhoon was predicted to arrive in Tokyo tonight but it had moved on thus the better than average sky. Not particularly interesting photos but I uploaded them here for you in case you missed it.

In one direction the sky was a orange red color while in the opposite a rich blue. In all the time I’ve been here I don’t think I’ve ever seen the sky over Tokyo this blue before.

yeah, that was pretty amazing. My Exilim didn’t quite catch the colours and those awful overhead cables made my pics look worse (from my balcony)

Nice photos Roy,

I often marvel at clouds these days since I got contact lenses. I never used to notice them much before that. My girlfriend thinks I’m weird to point such things out but I really appreciate sky-scapes now.

Nice work with the Related Entries and Amazon affliate links, but the Amazon ones are all showing up in Japanese here so perhaps consider changing to the US version instead if you are targetting Western visitors. I doubt many visitors will have Amazon JP accounts (although I do and it’s a real pain they won’t send DVDs or CDs outside of Japan!).

My comment was deleted?

What’s up with that?

Stoneman, no offense intended I just thought it was not really related to want I wrote here. Please try to keep the comment on topic. I’m anal about this..sorry.

Thanks for your understanding.

Dylan, when I first got glasses I was like WOW all the leaves on the trees are so well defined and walking around noticing that the world was not a blur after all.

About the Amazon links. I’m still experimenting with this and appreciate your comments. Whether to use Amazon.com or Amazon.co.jp is a dilemma and I decided that most of my visitors would be interested in Japan to some extent and want to buy stuff from .co.jp as well. So I try to decide which if it’s more appropriate to show the Japanese items. But I did not know that Amazon.co.jp does not ship DVDs or CD overseas. That’s good to know.

Yup, yesterday’s evening sky was the best I have seen yet. Standing outside shinagawa station, it was blue in the direction of kawasaki and fiery orange in direction of ginza. In fact this evening there was some really wild cloud formations over in the general direction of mt Fuji that i saw when I was on the keikyu train from kawasaki to shinagawa.

Life is too short to get angry. I was curious why it was gone, no matter.

Nice shots, I remember spending a few minutes looking at a store front when the sun was going down. It turned the strore front walls from white to orange. Strangely enough, it worked well with the neon blue store sign.

Nice update to the site. I think I just spent the last hour clicking on your Random/Related links. Yikes!

I was on the ferry on the way home from Odaiba and the sky was beatuful. You are right, we do not get many days like that one. It made me wish I had a better camera and some talent for taking picutures. I did get this one and I thought it was pretty nice.
