Yet another Yakult Secret Base has been discovered. The mystery is unfolding. It seems that Yakult lures unsuspecting housewives to become Yakult Obasans by enticing them with free daycare for their babies at centres like this one. Actually, if you were a single mom, this would be one way to get free daycare and earn some cash, although I can’t imagine it would be enough to live off of. Well, I’m assuming it’s free daycare anyways.

What are these Yakult things?
Some kind of energy/vitamin drinks?
I’ve never seen those before.

Yakult is a kind of probiotic drink. It contains live bacteria (the good kind) that helps with digestion and so forth and is good for you.

Yakult could be considered popular in Mexico, so much that Nestlé and another food company (maybe Danone? a.k.a. Danon in the US) released their “clones” a few years ago.
Remember the “Cola Wars”? We had our own Lactobacillus war, but Yakult has prevailed as the leader in that market and around the same time they started to have competition, they released their second product (Soful).

For almost 20 years, Yakult only sold the original Yakult
drink and now they still have only two products; but they are so good that I always have Yakult and Soful ready for consumption in my refrigerator.

On a side note, Yakult has always been a socially-responsible company, promoting healthy habits, giving philanthropic aid when needed and sponsoring cultural events.
The now-defunct Yakult House of Culture in my city had Art expositions and sometimes screenings of Anime, those were the days. Now they publish a family-oriented bulletin instead of having a Yakult House.

Interesting! I knew Yakult was popular in Asia but not in Mexico.

this in response to Erick, please do your homework. Yakult comes in five flavors, plus it comes in various other types of variations, like suger free, etc. , and has much more than two products. Yakult has lotions, medicines, foods, drinks, and many more products.
