There are no Starbucks near my house so I sometimes visit the local coffee shop. This morning after the gym, I dropped by to have a cup of coffee and read some PDFs I printed out (I’m taking the week off work to do some personal projects) Everyone in the place was a senior and everyone was smoking. One couple were blowing smoke all over their morning set. Gross. Other than the smoke, I prefer these places to the franchised shops. It seemed like many people came here regularly. The local “Cheers” I guess. Kissatens are a dying breed.

I had a blend coffee. What exactly is “blend” coffee anyways? The phone rang behind me and I turned around to see one of those pink phones you hardly see anymore.

I like old coffee shops more than Starbucks.
But there are too many Starbucks in Taipei.(I live in Taipei, TAIWAN) Old-fashioned coffee shops have died out. I know there are a lot of “old”coffee shops in Japan. I want to see them in person. Many Taiwanese people also like them. Maybe you will be interested in this one located in Kyoto. http://www.yilan.com.tw/html/modules/wordpress/index.php?p=81
It’s nice to see an old-fashioned coffee shop. We have a lot of coffee shops here, but they probably don’t sell coffee. And there would be a lot of smoke in those coffee shops too…
That looks like a nice place to spend some time. Unless the smoke starts to get on your nerves.
This looks like a very cosy place to hang out and drink coffee.
But, there are so many guys and senior citizens and it looks like a meeting place like Brokeback Mountain, so gay in some ways.
Where is the young office ladies, I’ll take the maid anytime ? :-)
