Tokyo Motor Show 2005

Another Tokyo Motor Show come and gone. I’m beat. It gets very tiring going to these trade shows. I thought that there would be fewer people today, a weekday, but it was packed! According to the official site, there were 92,000 visitors today compared to 152,000 yesterday, a public holiday. It seemed like every Senmon Gakko was having a field trip to the show today because there were so many rowdy students who weren’t interested in either cars or can-gals. Anyway, the star of the show seemed to be the Nissan GT-R concept car (above). The GT-R (Skyline) is like the Corvette of Japan. It was a thing of beauty and I watched it go round and round for a hour. I planned to put up some pictures I took but there are already tons of photos from the show out on the internet taken by photographers better than me. So I decided I wouldn’t go to the trouble. Also, I’m just soo lazy this weekend.

Is it just me or does the Skyline in that picture look vaguely like a spacey Ford Mustang?

The last generation skyline GT-R looked more like a mustang IMO. I think the mustang looks like a dog though.

Yeah I agree. The Mustang referenece was in no way a compliment for the the prototype GT-R. It’s just that the roof line, the rear spoiler and some of the side vents look like a Mustang’s. Eeew. lets hope it looks better in production. Not like it matters to me anyways, I could never afford one.

That R34 Z-Tune looks nasty too. Too many ugly ground effects going on there. But a “normal” R34 GT-R looks damn spiffy to me!

Yeah, I’m not a skyline type of person. Too much car for me. The roadster is a good fit.

What I like about the Prototype GT-R was the strong, simple lines and the non-bling metallic look.

I didn’t put up the photo but the GT-R logo had a cherry red sparkle to it that was very classy.

You know it’s all about the bling-bling baby. That’s why you must’ve sprung some extra cash for the 10-spoke 17in. rims on your car. Else you’d be cruising around in the 16in. 5 spokes.

Well, I’m not a bling bling guy. Otherwise I would have gone for the Limited Edition Roadster which is Velocity Red. The same red as the RX-8. I prefered this Red to the True Red (too orange) of the Roadster but the Limited Edition had all this chrome all over the place which would make me feel like a pimp driving that car. So I went with the Gray.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have a choice with the wheels. Those 17″ 10 spokes were default with the sports model which I wanted. I would have prefered the 16″ five spokes. But they were not an option. I’m waiting for more 17″ wheels to come out before I swap them. But I am getting used to those “wagon wheels”

Your gonna swap? Why? Those 10 spokes look great on the car! It’s part of why the car looks cool, the 10 spokes look huge on that car. The 5 spokes look weak. So your car is the RS model? Oooh, that means you have the LSD, which means two wheel burn outs! Fun! I wonder if the roadster can burn out in second gear? Find out & lemme know. ;)
