The day you’ve all been waiting for has arrived, AGAIN!! It stopped raining last night and there were blue skies today. Absolutely great weather! I went to the dealer after work to pick up my car which I ordered on April 1st. It’s been a looong wait. As usual I had my camera ready to take photos. This was the first time for me to see the Stormy Blue colour NC in person and it did not disappoint. I’m in love with this colour car! As you can see in the above photos my RHT was in a big puddle of water when I arrived. Not the most flattering scene for the first pic, but oh well. The dude in the second photo was just finishing up the glass coating I ordered. My salesguy did the usual run through the checklist and made sure I understood how to use the smart key. After that I did my thorough check of the car to see if anything was amiss.

Some more photos of the RHT (Retractable Hard Top) Roadster. The dark navy blue looks way better than in the photos. I rather like the stock 16″ wheels and decided to leave them on for a while. Last week, I went to YellowHat and ordered a set of Bridgestone RE050 because I was planning to swap the 16″ wheels with my 17″ Yokohama Advan Racing RS wheels. But then decided to cancel them as I shouldn’t be spending ¥120,000 on tires I don’t need right away.

(1) Here’s a shot of the interior with all the wrapping. There was a whole bunch of garbage on the passenger seat (2) An Marble White NR-A had also been delivered at the same time as my car.

The drive home was uneventful and actually pretty boring. There’s no stereo yet so no tunes to listen to. I didn’t really use the paddle shifts because it was gridlock all the way to my house and I never faster than 40 km/h. It took ages. On the other hand, my RHT is an auto so it was much more relaxing than manual. Plus I now have a free hand to takes photos with my GR.

Tomorrow, I will be getting the navigation system and etc installed!

I’ll second Eddie’s comment. Don’t think I couldn’t put it any better myself. Congratulations Roy, it a great looking car!

Mazda always has nice paint pigments. Despite the puddle, the color looks great in your photos. That car will glow in the dark after you give it a polish and wax.

The glass coating you ordered, is it anti-glare?

Regal, elegant and peerless. Both of you! I hope you have many happy times in this iconic automobile. Happy trails, safe journey and wind in your hair. See you one day on the road to Fuji-san.
And finally a celebration haiku :
Blue jewel in cave .
Rests on reflected water.
The drive home boring.

Nice to see you finally being happy again! Have fun!

P.S.: I know about your regulations and stuff, but why is there only 180km/h max? I guess it could (and should) go faster… ;-)

I think the last hard top retractable I remember was a Honda Del Sol in U.S. - what happened to that line I wonder? Maybe toyota spyder had one I cant really remember. Anybody know what other makers have roadsters with powered hard tops??

anyhow, looks pretty cool. I’m tempted to get one for myself now lol…………

Hiya Roy! Enjoy your new NC-RHT!
If you stick to 16″ perhaps consider some MS dampers? ;)

Congratulations!!! It is so cool and I love that color.
Your story on your car really made me miss Tokyo where people care about cars. I live in a small town in Midwest and nobody cares how their cars look. I got a nice-looking sport car, but something white keeps dripping on my car from the carport ceiling. It is a huge mess. The owner of the apt would not do anything and he does not think it is a big deal. Big sigh…

Come on, Roy… you know you want to… where’s the pictures of it “transforming”?

How fun! Getting new stuff and then more new stuff for the new stuff. I bet you’ll be itching to hop in the car while they’re working on the navi etc.

Comment by J. on 2007-06-17 22:05:39

Congratulations. Have fun with this nice car.

Comment by Stoneman on 2007-06-18 00:13:57

Don’t take this the wrong way… but why in the hell did you buy an automatic? The 6-speed manual is heaven on earth.

Comment by Dylan on 2007-06-18 08:59:01

Good work, congratulations! I wonder if the cats will sleep on your roof anymore now?!
