The Roadster/Miata=Chick Car stereotype is alive and well in Pixar’s “Cars”. NAs make several appearances in the film and all of them are as bimbo chicks. Oh well, anyone who thinks the roadster is a chick car need only drive one. Then they’d know. The film is fun to watch even though it is a complete rip off of “Doc Hollywood”.
Chick Car

It’s funny how various cars get assigned to types. I’m not sure why, in America, the Miata/Roadster is seen at the gay man’s car. How does that happen? How do car stereotypes start?
Perhaps the Pixar designers picked it based on physical not psychological characteristics. The Roadster having curvacious yet not overly aggresive lines.
Over the the weekend while biking along the Mississippi (a beautiful area I might add) I saw a grow of Miata owners parked together. I thought of you Roy. I wish I carried a camera.
When I was a struggling actor in LA I treated myself to a one-day rental of the first-edition Miata for my birthday. It was awesome!
Can’t say that I feel the same way about that Pixar movie, though. Both my nine year-old niece and I thought it was a bit of a dud…
Gay man’s car?! NOOOOOO!!!!!
I have to agree that this one was not as original as other pixar movies. We’ve seen this story a million times. Disney is poisoning Pixar!
But I did like all the car jokes and I enjoyed all the famous race car drivers doing the voices.
I heard on a talk show that the basic story for ‘Car’s was taken for the 80’s movie ‘Doc Hollywood’ starring Michael J. Fox. Not a ripoff but an actually adaptation.
I’m skeptical.
It could be that they said it was an adaptation after the fact. I mean so many reviews have said the same thing. That it was a rip off.
Apple has a car in Cars.
In the racetrack scene, you will see a car zoom by. Number 84 with a colour scheme like a white Macbook.
Not sure what gender it is though…
Thought you might find this story interesting. Seems that some restaurant is weening customers off of beef burgers, by replacing them with fried whale burgers.
