Potion is the most common item in Final Fantasy. For non-gamers, when you drink a potion you recover some hit points, usually 100HP sometimes 500HP. This drink is the real life version of potion. I was very busy at work today so I could have used a potion to recover 100HP. Yep, I know what you’re thinking, Japan has all the coolest stuff ever!! But alas, it’s just a genki drink by suntory dressed up as potion. The potion was on sale at Bic Camera today. It is a limited run drink to help promote Final Fantasy XII. The TV commercial is great too. ¥200 for potion in a regular bottle and ¥630 for a premium bottle. Premium is another word for blue plastic.

These are the premium bottles. I mean boxes of them. There are six types and you can collect them all but you don’t know which type it is until you open the box. I read the ingredients. It’s loaded with chemicals that have long katakana names. It’s probably a good drink to have before/after sex even though there’s no sex in RPGs. I resisted temptation and did not drink any potion today. But maybe tomorrow I’ll need one ;)

Final Fantasy freaks would pay big money for these on eBay I bet.

EDIT: If you’re looking to buy some online, I believe J-List is selling them now, their stock may be limited though.

EDIT: Tonight (3/16) there was a huge line of people buying premium potion, mostly girls!!! Is potion an aphrodisiac?

Well I do like those premium bottles, but they should be made of glass or something. Plastic has such a cheapish feel about it…

Actually I think the top part is plastic and the bottle part is glass.

I thought the potion was absolutely disgusting, but I guss it beats a can of Red Bull for 700 Yen (!) at Queen Isetan.
