The desk I ordered arrived yesterday and I finally got my workplace set up. I haven’t had a proper desk at home for as long as I can remember. For chairs, I use a balance ball and the ayur chair I got a few weeks ago. I changed the wallpaper on my iMAC just for the photo :-)
Workspace

Hmm… Don’t think you have quite enough computers for that desk ;-)
Actually, I’m curious as to why you have both a ThinkPad AND a PowerBook… I can certainly see splitting up Office and media tasks between Mac and Windows, but where does the Mac portable fit in?
You can never have enough computers!
I used to use the IBM as my main PC until I got the PowerBook but I need to keep a Windows PC for work and other apps. Japan still has a lot of peripherals that are not supported on Mac OSX.
I used the iMAC for a TV until I got a real TV. I still use it for music and video etc.
Hey, all you gotta do is get an MacBook or Pro, run Boot Camp and you got a Pee Cee.
Then one less ThinkPad! =)
Your set-up so looks like a bachelor’s home, Roy. One of these days the Queer Eye guys are going to bust down your door and force some design on you.
I guess that’s not a compliment either…
The assumption that gay men have more sense of design is incorrect IMO. I happen to like my “bachelor” pad and would never let it be gayified.
In fact, I’m gonna put up my black lights and satin sheets right now ;-)
Hey, you could set up a meme for your readers.
Everyone could take a picture of their home office with that wallpaper on their computers!
Wahahahahah!
Why not use the GR digital for the photo? You still have your E-300?
You might consider turning your desk to the window so that you can occasionally look up over your computer(s) and look at that nice tree. A nice distraction AND it would keep the glare off the screens. It might also give you more sitting room.
Do we now call the room, HQ-taro?
Orchid, Roy could teach the QE guys a thing or two about design. :-P
Abraxis, not a bad idea.
Rick, actually I got rid of the e300 last year when I got the e500 but I sold the e500 when the Canon 30D came out. This picture I took with the 30D. The e500 had the smaller viewfinder of any DSLR and it bugged me so much I had to sell it.
Robbie, the door is opposite the window. Therefore if I put the table against the window my back would be to the door. This is very bad Feng Shui. It means your back is exposed and you can’t see people coming.
Do you Sofmap all your gadget sales?
It wasn’t meant as either a compliment or as deision, honestly. It was just an observation.
And the Queer Eye comment was a joke based on having seen the show recently on Fox Japan. I didn’t say all gay men had a good design sense. The guys on that show do go in and overhaul the homes of the men they work with so they are gay men who are good at design even if all gay men aren’t.
Every man’s home is his castle. It’s good that you’re satisfied with your situation. No insult was intended.
Is your Q-taro lamp still around? Hope you did not consider it bad Feng Shui … ;-P
Orchid, yes I know you were not insulting me. I was in a moment of insecure defensiveness.
