This and That

It’s February and so far the Food Hit List is working fine. I am following the list fairly well and have only eaten some of the restricted foods once a month. This is still within the “rules” I set out for myself. Although I did smoke almost a pack of cigarettes one night two weeks ago. That wasn’t good. Next week, I’m going to go all out on the fitness and diet program. Go to the gym in the mornings to do weight training and in the evenings again to do cardio. I’m going to make it a rule to shut off the computer at 10pm no matter what, so my updates will be fewer. Read or study for half an hour and go to sleep by 10:30.

This morning, I was reading a book about time travel and completely forgot to take a picture of the hole at Shinbashi Station.

Yesterday, I saw Ed Harris (or someone who looked remarkably similar) standing in front of Bic Camera as I was renewing my JR train pass on my keitai (mobile suica is way cool).

Even though I’ve been using the Internet for more than 10yrs, I signed up for some information about home-based-income work which was obviously a pyramid or multilevel-marketing scam. And I used my real name and email too!!!

Saturday is the opening of Omotesando Hills and I’m purposefully NOT going to go there, just because everyone else in Japan will be going and blogging about it. I will provide the “ALTERNATIVE”. Maybe I will go to some other run down shopping place that needs attention, Nakano Sun Road? But I will eventually go there and take some pictures for the blog.

You know, I might re-think weight training. I didn’t even do much but it was enough to tear both shoulders to shreds. It’s that decrepit old body. If I had it to do over I would try something like yoga, tai chi, or aikido.

But is your purpose fitness or aesthetics enough to appeal to some ditzy dame who would be impressed with six-pack abs? Guaranteed she’d be more impressed shortly with someone else’s.

It’s always a good idea start with the basics using only your body weight (push-ups and so forth) before moving onto weights.

My purpose is to see if I can reach my potential physically. The dizty dames are a side benefit.

OK. Don’t listen to rational advice.

Actually, I thought I did rather well starting weight training in my forties. Ha!

Good luck - I have a study and training calender stuck to the fridge - there is no escape! seems to be helping though….

If it gets too onerous to go out to exercise there is something you can do at home via a “Fit Deck:” http://www.fitdeck.com

Still, I’d recommend something softer and deeper than surface muscle toning, and thereby avoid joint destruction and repetitive motion injury, in the long run.

Myself included, why does vanity drive people in their forties to accelerate body wear and tear and thus accelerate aging and speed the onset of decrepitude?

Oh well, can’t say I didn’t get laid in my forties. I have to admit, it was worth it. Ouch! There goes that bum shoulder again. Those sweet memories are quite an anodyne to the pain, however. In spite of the pain I’m smiling like an opiated baby. Gotta clean up the drool now.

What a difference a decade makes.
