Here’s some photos of the “L” in “LDK”. Not much to show really but I don’t have anything else to blog about so here it is. As you can see, it’s a very small “L”. It’s not complete and there are still lots of things I need to get but I’ll be doing that slowly. I returned the sofa from Ikea and bought this antique sofa set instead. I got it off of Yahoo Auction and had it shipped from Kobe for a price much cheaper than the one from Ikea. And I’m so glad I got this one instead. It has more character, weighs a ton and is very well built. I can’t get enough of those retro strips! The wide angle lens makes the sofa look a lot shorter than it really is. I was going to get a nice coffee table but now I think I’ll find a better chabudai instead.

Nice choice.
Where did you find the ‘Cars’ poster? Cool.
zombiebite, glad you approve..
robbie, I went to see it again at the theatre and they were selling them at the shop.
Thanks for the pictures, Roy. It’ll be interesting to see how it develops. I think the retro chairs and sofa are cool but I’d have the upholstery redone (not because of the stripes but because the color is a bit dark). I’d go for something much brighter in perhaps the same pattern - cream and a more vibrant color, perhaps. With your car poster, curtains, and beige carpet a cream and red-striped sofa and chair would really make that room pop as well as brighten it up.
Before I saw the sofas in person I thought I would want to reupholster them but actually the condition of the fabric is still very good and the colors are very bright although they look dark in the photo. Friends always recommend me to have more bright colors as well but I prefer darker earthy colors. I’m too chicken about pulling the trigger and going for red. I was going to buy a red car but chickened out at the last minute.
Like the 60s (?) era couches.
The TV looks cool, could use a stand or cabinet to put stuff in/on.
The best part is the PowerBook right in the center of the room!
Oh man! This photo brings back suffocating memories. My room was this size in Yawatajuku, cramped with a bed, table, chair, TV, cupboard, hotplate, sink and toilet.
Hmm..I guess that was not a compliment.
