Another Fine Day in Tokyo
by Roy on August 24, 2005 05:45

August is my least productive month. I’ve been in a weird sort of funk this last few weeks, really busy but getting very little of substance completed and feeling like I’m not getting enough sleep, food, oxygen or any of the good stuff. I didn’t have any summer vacation, either. Is there a happy genki pill I could take without breaking any laws? Pictures above: the view from my balcony at 5:30 this morning. Perfect weather for calling in sick.

I used to lament the view from my balcony, seems like yours doesnt look very appealing, to me at least.

It’s actually a very good view. I can see a lot of sky and also planes landing at Haneda. I was just trying to take the picture from an angle that is gloomy to reflect my moood. The balcony was one of the selling points of my apartment.

You live near Haneda? So you live in Tokyo itself?
Beats Yawatajuku anytime!

Actually I live in Shinagawa but pretty close to Haneda. It’s about 10 minutes by car and sometimes I go there for dinner.

Yawatajuku. I’ve been there a few times. Why are you way out there? At least, it’s cheap to rent an apartment and parking space. You must have a car don’t you?

Maybe you need to start drinking those royal jelly drinks that I see those salarymen drinking at the train station. To pay about 3-400 Yen for that little itty bitty bottle, must work huh? Possible side-effect: You might start actually feeling like an oji-san just for resorting to drinking those things.

Hmm..genki drinks. Forgot about those. But they have nicotine in them..

I agree and for some synchronicity the view from my window in Edmonton looks exactly the same today.

I think 14 years of going to school is what makes August the month of procrastination. I’ve been programmed to think that September is a whole other country and I don’t want to go.

Seeing is believing

Roy’s blog set my memories jogging…
I always thought it must be real cosy to live in one of those cramped little apartments that I saw in Japanese drama. Until I lived in one myself. Although it has been more than a year since I successfully negot…
