There’s this incredibly delicious waffle smell coming from the Cold Stone Creamery shop. It’s so strong you could probably smell it from the top of Roppongi Hills. Now I know why so many people have been lining up here since it opened last winter. Aroma Marketing. I didn’t eat any of course because ice cream is on my food hit list. But is this ice cream really worth waiting in line? Is it worth lining up to get fat? There are now four shops in Japan and pretty soon the novelty will wear off and there won’t be anymore lines. Remember all those Belgian Waffle stands? Where are they now?

I don’t know about the disappeared Belgian waffle stands, but most times I pass through Ginza, I pick up waffles at Manneken.

I think that is the one that started the waffle trend (mid ’90s) and after that they were everywhere for about 2 years and then gone.
Ah yes, Coldstone is very tasty and they mix the flavors on the spot for you.
But, as they say,
A moment on the lips, forever on the hips……

Cold Stone!!
I’ve not gone,but I’d like to go.
By the way, Cold Stone Creamery’s COO used to work for
Tully’s. Did you know that?
Haha Manneken.
Too bad they don’t even have a Dutch website.
And to be precise; of all Belgian waffles I prefer the ones from Brussels.
I love cold stone. When i was in Seattle I used go almost every week one time.
But only thing missing is macadamian nuts..
If you guys wanna eat the best ice cream choose strawberry cheese cake and choose strawberry and macadamian nuts… It is so delicious…
Cold Stone is a fad - stores in the US are already doing poorly, and some have already closed. Making your own ice cream concoction is grossly overrated - a properly formulated flavor like from Baskin 31 Robbins is far more tasty than some glop you mix together on the spot.
And the basic Cold Stone ice cream is gummy and chemical-tasting. Yuck.
Jim, I have to agree with you. I tried it once and it was enough. Too sweet and too gummy.
