Yamaori-Taniori

This piece of Japanese on the Onomichi guide map was brought to my attention after I folded the map in half. Yamaori 山折り means “mountain-fold” and Taniori 谷折りmeans “valley-fold”. Fold one outward and the other inward. I like the way Japanese uses simple metaphors like this.

I like the icon even better. Not only does it describe which way to fold, but also cleverly points exactly where to do it (Although Roy missed the valley slightly ;-P). All in one icon.
