My friend is at opening of the new Burger King today and took this photo of the ridiculous crowd. All the major TV news crews were on hand to film the spectacle. Dave Spector was there apparently. Looks like this will be another Krispy Kreme fiasco. Maybe it’ll take some of the crowds away from there so I can get a donut without waiting 2 hours. Burger King, like Ikea, pulled out of Japan years ago only to make a big comeback. It’s all in the marketing, I guess. This Burger King is located in the Island Tower in Nishi-Shinjuku, kind of far from the station. At any rate, I wanna get me a double whopper but I hope I won’t have to wait 2 hours for one.
Return of the Burger King

Wow, the whole time being in Japan i never realized they didn’t have any burger kings. Hopefully they get big like McD’s so that theres some real competition.
When I visited Japan I was really disappointed in seeing so many McD and how busy a lot of them were. Don’t they notice us, the fat american tourists and wonder how we got like that? But I can understand why its popular since so many are too busy working to be bother with cooking.
Are there Taco Bells in Japan?
I passed by it last weekend and they were open but only for “family and friends”. The shop was near full of people eating Whoppers. Mmm.
No Taco Bells, but there’s a new chain called Taco Time in from the U.S. They don’t seem to have many shops, but all I care for is that they have one in my hood, Nakano. :)

This is rather more absurd than Krispy Kreme. At least that is the first and only KK in Japan. Burger King was here and gone and was in Shinjuku before, no less. I went to the one in the Shinjuku Center Building before it shut down a few times and people were clearly sufficiently indifferent to it that they shut it down (same for the one in Nakano).
I do believe this will settle down faster than KK because, in the end, there isn’t so much spectacularly different about Burger King’s burgers compared to other fast food.
VinylFreak: No Taco Bells, but Taco Time has opened a few shops. There’s one in my ‘hood and that’s all I care about. :)
Oops did I say that twice. I guess my first comment was waiting approval and I forgot about it altogether. :)
By the way, I went to Burger King number 2 in Ikebukuro, and then like wasn’t even 15 minutes long, so if you want some Burger King that’s the place to go. It was really good too! A lot better than McDonald’s, for sure.
