Hello Kitty Brush Shop

Hello Kitty lights ups a brush store window in Tokyo
While walking around in Jimbocho the other night I spotted a dim light in a shop window. It turned out to be this retro Hello Kitty night light. I don’t know which I found more interesting, the Hello Kitty lamp or the fact that the shop was a brush shop. I mean, when was the last time you went to a brush shop?

I was tempted to go in and ask if I could by the lamp.

Judging from prior posts where you express concern about things looking “too gay”, I’m surprised you wanted to buy the lamp. Unless you were going to buy it for somebody else female, that is! :) If so - nice touch (but then what do I know about such things?)!! Or maybe it’s like having Rellakuma in your car (chicks dig it when they visit)? Anyway - on a different subject… Are you going to do your traditional Shogatsu post for ‘08? Not being pushy or anything….

Of course, I wouldn’t buy anything “Hello Kitty” but there was something wabi-sabi about that night light and I have a thing for Japanese retro. I didn’t do anything worth speaking of this new years so probably will not do a shogatsu post, sorry.

Sorry, I shoulda known that. The shop does have that kind of “vibe” to it.

Roy, this is what you do the next time you see a cute retro Hello Kitty lamp at a brush shop:

Step 1: Grab it with two hands
Step 2: Run out of the store really, really fast

The End
