Never noticed this vending machine selling flowers before. It’s in Shinjuku station B1 near the Studio Alta Exit. Nothing really special about it. You can buy pre-arranged flowers from almost any flower shop, only here you don’t have to deal with people and you can get a bouquet in the middle of the night during a flower emergency.
Bouquet Vending Machine

2000 Yen from a machine, how much does it cost from a florist?
Awesome… now only if they had vending machine vending machines.

now, can i purchase flowers for the girls from the ‘no more blue borders’ post? ; )
You have to be careful pulling them out from the chute
back in Hawaii, I was a frequent visitor of 7-Eleven’s because they had a little flower section. Come to think of it, even the late-open supermarkets like Safeway had a flower section. It’s odd that ever since I came to Japan. My flower emergencies just stopped. You joke, but back then flower emergencies happened all the time! I wonder why they stopped??
Actually, it wasn’t meant to be a joke. There were times when it was late at night and I just remembered someone’s birthday or suddenly have to attend a farewell party etc. I made a mental note of this machine.
Do you think it would be romantic if say I was walking in Shinjuku Station on a date and I stopped to buy a bouquet from the machine for my date? It would be kind of like UFO catcher right?
Senis, 2000 yen is slightly cheaper than getting a custom bouquet made from a florist but I think it depends on the flowers you pick.
Well, sometimes… vending machine flower or not, it’ll be a lifesaver. And if you’re resorting to getting flowers for an emergency in the middle of the night, you’d be smart not to mention where you got them. (^_^)
24hr supermarkets like MaxValue sell bouquets too, but I think vending machines have a smaller choice and I do wonder how fresh the blooms are.
And I really like the Amazon ads on this page :)
Saff, you are the first person to express a liking for those ads, thanks! :-)
Flower emergencies do happen! But I would suggest refraining from being obvious.
On my first date with my ex-girlfriend I actually purchased a bouquet for her… on a super market while waiting for our movie to begin.
As soon as I turned back to her with the flowers I realized that was not the smartest thing to do.
However, her actual concern was not the “super-market-last-minute-bouquet” thing; but the color of the roses, being yellow she said they meant “I hate you”.
Oh well, I was taught the intention is what matters.
