No 3G

Something I was looking forward to doing was trying out international videophone on this keitai I rented. Back in Japan, I use videophone quite frequently and thought it might be interesting to try it here. But I have not been able to get a 3G signal at all in Singapore. I was walking around Orchard for about 30 minutes last night trying to see if I could pick up a 3G signal but could only get GPRS or GSM (Yes, there are more interesting things to do in this city but I’m a loser so..) As you can see from this photo of my keitai screen (top right) it says GPRS. I have it set to AUTO with 3G priority so it should choose 3G before the others but no luck. What am I doing wrong?

Some other interesting things about this keitai. It says Hong Kong there because you can set the clock to display another time zone. GMT+8 is named HK not Singapore. It also displays the name of the remote carrier, in this case STARHUB. I changed my keitai screen image to Yukie Nakama just for this photo to please my male visitors. I don’t usually have pictures of idols on my cell phone because that would be really pathetic, wouldn’t it?
