Mobile Suica was finally launched on Saturday and I switched over my suica card onto my keitai. I had already applied for a view card a month earlier so I could be ready on day one. You have to download three different iApplis and fill in a bunch of online forms. It’s a bit of a pain and takes about 20 minutes but I succesfully transferred my train pass and existing cash/points to my keitai. I didn’t take the train yesterday so today was the first day for me to try getting on the train using my cell phone. I also ate some curry and bought a pie with my keitai. HOW FUN!! In Ikebukuro station they were promoting mobile suica trying to get people to sign up for the view card. The tissues they were giving out were very cute. I’m a big fan of the suica penguin.
Here’s a good article (Japanese) explaining how to setup your phone for Mobile Suica. The pictures of the booths are from Ikebukuro station too.

Ever since my first visit to Tokyo, I’ve developed a new appreciation of tissue packs.
Especially when I’m in Akiba or Shinjuku…!
Your Suica tissues packaging looks neat, design wise. When I was in Tokyo last December, I noticed all the Suica stuff that the Kiosk stores in the JR stations were selling.
Neat stuff.
These Suica tissues were very soft and silky too. High quality!!
