Gmail to Gmail
by Roy on September 7, 2006 23:14

Does anyone know a way to transfer all your gmail mail to another gmail account? I’m in the process of downloading it all and then going to upload it again. Not a pretty thing to be doing but it has to be done.

Also, a friend sent me this link. I thought it was funny enough to re-post here.

Roy, I just did what you have done to your domain email(from gmail to hosted gmail). I did it the hard way.

Roy I got your “change-of-eMaiL” notice
but can you explain what you mean by :
“My domain email is now being hosted by google (it’s awesome)” ?

MichaeL, you have a gmail account right? It’s just like that except now I have it without the @gmail.com but instead @q-taro.com. I moved my mail domain there.

1. Login to Gmail#2 (retrieve from/secondary) and select:
>Settings
>Forwarding and POP
>Enable POP for all mail (even mail that’s already been downloaded)
>Save changes
>Sign out

2. Login to Gmail#1 (receive to/primary) and select:
>Settings
>Accounts
>Add another mail account
>input:email address
>Next Step
>input:password
>POP Server:smtp.gmail.com
>Port:995
>Uncheck:Leave a copy of retrieved messages on the server
>Check:Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail
>Check:Label incoming messages
>Save Changes
>Sign out

3. Login to Gmail#1 and select:
>Settings
>Accounts
>Click:Check mail now

Note: depending on the amount of gmail to be retrieved/received, it may take some time.
