Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

They installed this box at the gym a few weeks ago and I was wondering what it was. Took a closer look at it today. It’s a Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Chamber, apparently. They charge 2,100yen for you to sit in it for 20 minutes. According to the official site it’s supposed to heighten the positive effects of aerobic exercise and can also be used for relaxation and other things. Sounds kind of interesting, maybe in a few years everyone will have one in their homes. Or they might be able to build this feature into unit baths and create the artificial high pressure atmosphere.

This is in your gym? I see some lockers in the background. I can’t imagine sitting in that box for 20 minutes. At my gym in the men’s locker room right next to the showers they have these upright tanning machines that charge 500yen for 10 minutes. Weird.

Yep, this is at Golds Gym. I haven’t seen anyone using this yet. They also have 4 or 5 of those standup tanning machine rooms as well. Apparently safer than using the real sun.
