An involuntary eye twitch has been plaguing me for the last week or so. It feels like someone is sending an electric shock through my eye but without the pain. As a result I’ve been having some headaches and didn’t really feel like going out this long weekend, which was unfortunate because the weather has been fantastic. Probably to make up for all the rain we got last week. There was action around the neighborhood though. Yesterday, I saw some samba dancers, well just one really, and a bunch of other people dressed up as some kind of quasi-japanese-brazillian-creature-things. I have no idea what they were doing or what they were celebrating.

I took this underexposed photo on the way to Shinjuku and thought that I should really make more of an effort to discover what the GR is capable of. At Bic Camera they had a sale on hard disks so I bought a 500GB Linkstation, something I have been needed for a while. When I got home I found the neighborhood kairanban 回覧板 in the post. This is the clipboard that’s passed around from house to house on your block. It has notices about neighborhood events and charity etc. You have to stamp your name on it after you’ve read everything and then pass it on to the next person. Back to work tomorrow…
Eye Twitch etc..

Hi Roy, may I ask You something:
Last year I was in Nagoya and noticed that there are ‘many’ signs written in Portugese….what’s the connection? I’ve heard it’s something to do with Brasil?…
Thank you.
I really don’t know but maybe there’s a large Brazillian-Japanese population there.
Maybe the samba group is a kind of modern chindonya begun by a woman who missed the enjoyment and attention she got at the Asakusa Samba Festival and didn’t want to let her samba costume go to waste. Then again maybe she’s running for public office and couldn’t afford a sound truck. I kinda miss chindonya; yaki-imo trucks; kerosene trucks in the winter; clothes-drying-pole trucks; walking fire-watch guys on winter nights with their clacking blocks of resonant wood; the buzzing toot of tofu guys; and, heck, I’ll throw in ice-cream trucks here in the states in the 1950s and 60s. The only sound I ever hear outside here is the occasional yelp or group-blood-fest of coyotes.
I get a twitch like that when I’ve been burning the midnight oil too much and it really bugs me. Perhaps time to have a rest away from the computer monitors for a couple of days.
Well, if ancient chinese saying is anything to go about, eye twitching could be a sign of good fortune or a bad case of “wind” in your head
Either way, do take care (^_^)v
Yeah that twitching has happened to me before too, I figure it’s stress related. Just make sure you get enough sleep.
Hey Roy! The eye-twitch is common when your body lacks magnesium. Check your diet and/or get some supplements … When you drink a lot of coffee you may get that since coffee washes out magnesium real nice …
but I may be talking out of my ass …
Lack of magnesium? Interesting..I’ll check it out.
Yep, I’m almost certain. Here’s a quote:
Even a mild deficiency [of Mg] causes sensitiveness to noise, nervousness, irritability, mental depression, confusion, twitching, trembling, apprehension, insomnia, muscle weakness and cramps in the toes, feet, legs, or fingers
Eat 2 packs of almonds or pumpkin seeds and you’re all set :)
Roy: I’ve tried to post a comment on a blog entry I wrote in my blog about eye twitching, twice now. Both times the comment went into moderation (with the message about comment moderation appearing), and both times nothing has come through. The comment contained a single link (allowable according to the red-letter comment rules I see above this now), to the blog entry in question.
I think I get the same problem, and the culprit is Movable Type’s SpamLookup; when you set the limit of allowed URLs to a low number, it tells the commenter that the post is in moderation, but does NOT send it to the blog owner.
The post I refer to in my blog is on eyelid twitching; I posted it three years ago or so, and it has nearly a thousand comments on it, and is usually in the top 3 returns on Google if you look up the malady. Within the comments, you’ll find all sorts of remedies and advice.
The link, in a form I think wll slip by SpamLookup, is:

If you get this, kindly re-create the link, if it’s OK.
I wonder if this post will ever get 1000 comments?
I get an abnormally rapid eyelid twitching which last for about a year before and it is actually diagnosed as one of the symptoms of Tardive Dyskinesia (neuroleptic medication-induced repetitive, involuntary, purposeless facial muscle movements) caused by prolonged intake of Risperdal. And I actually get it finally and totally cured through treatment administered onto the “He Gu” acupuncture point of my right hand.
And this “He Gu’ acupuncture point, based on the acupuncturist is actually related to the treatments of facial nerves especially the eyelids. Whilst the treatment itself is a self-administered alternative instrument-aided acupressure technique provided to me by the particular acupuncturist.
