Not the illegal kind, the over-the-counter kind. At work, every six months or so a sexy nurse puts a big bag of pills ‘n stuff on my desk. This is what all that money I pay for health insurance gets me. The most recent booty was not that great although this time I got some air salonpas. Cool. Putting the toothpaste and toothbrushes into a box is a waste of paper. Japanese pharmaceuticals are rather ineffective (and expensive) as far as drugs go so when I’m sick I don’t even bother taking anything. Usually I give away most of the stuff but sometimes I just stick it in my drawer. It’s already full of previous left overs nearing their expiry dates.

Drugs

You get that stuff from your health insurance? We only get refunds of medicines and medical supplies we need, if it’s done on doctors orders. One exeption tough, there’s one insurance for people between ages 18 and 27 that’ll supply free packs of condoms <- not that bad of an idea when I think about it…
I’ve never heard of one getting regular free OTC stuff because their health insurance. Is this something specific to your company, Roy? Or is this some aspect of being on the Japanese socialized medicine that I’m not aware of?
Never mind the over the counter meds, what about the sexy nurse?
No pictures???
Well, most of those drugs are useless anyway. Having that said, don’t worry about the expiry date, it means next to nothing to the efficacy of the drug. The makers only mark them with it to sell more. There is one notable exception, nitroglycerine, but I sincerely hope you aren’t getting that anyway ;-)
Marijn, I like the free condom idea :-)
Shari, I believe this is very common when you pay into the shakai hoken.
Abraxis, sorry I lied. There was no sexy nurse :-(
Anders, yep I have never felt any meds help me. But the toothbrushes and toothpaste are welcome.
I get this type of drug packs at my job too, mostly stuff I don’t end up having a use for.
I hate the toothpaste we get. It’s not Dentor though, it’s Fujisawa or some similar name.
Nice packaging shots Roy thanks for sharing
