Why are elementary school kids in Japan forced to wear shorts in winter while the teachers don’t? This seems totally unfair, but I imagine it is because kids need to be exposed to extreme conditions so that their bodies can develop resistance and grow up to be strong and healthy. I remember someone telling me that boarding schools in England only have cold showers and that eventually the kids get used to it and as a benefit have very high metabolisms. Once I tried just taking cold showers but it was too much to bear and I gave up. Maybe from tomorrow I will slowly lower the temperature of my shower one degree each day. If the starting temperature is 40 degrees I should be able to bear freezing cold showers by the end of August. Can’t wait to see my metabolism skyrocket!

But, if you just wakeup and are late, and run to take a cold shower, your heart can’t handle the temperature change if you are not really used to it. I have an uncle who know about that, hehe…
Just be careful with the temperature change, maybe 1 degree a day is too fast, and your body don’t really get used.
I’d like to say it’s because the teachers are getting their revenge for having to wear long pants in the hot summer while the kids can wear shorts. But that would only half work in my scenario where there is no dress code at my school.
You mean you wear shorts to work?
The kids can wear shorts. But we can’t, so it serves ‘em right to have them freeze in the winter while were nice and cozy.
The cold shower thing does work. Your body struggles to keep you warm and it makes you burn calories..
