Look!! There are REAL LIVE chicks in Akiba and not just plastic ones. Yes, on any given weekend in Akihabara there’s some sort of photo event for some unknown bikini gal (unknown to me anyway) They pluck some girl off a street in Harajuku, interview her about her favorite color, food, first love, type of guy etc and film her running along the beach in a bikini, eating ice cream in slow motion. Make that into a DVD and you’ve got a booming business. Danny’s got the exclusive on what these events are like with lots of high-res photos if you are into that kind of thing. Even if you aren’t the write up is an interesting inside view into something that most people would otherwise not experience. He invited me to tag along before which I thought might be an interesting blog opportunity. But I didn’t really want to pay for the DVD which you had to buy to see the event. I would just as well pay to visit ROCKZA in Asakusa. I’m not really into these Akiba type gravure girls but I can see what guys likes about them. “Fertile” is the word that comes to mind.

Then I wouldn’t be crazy to say, if I were dating someone of similar proprtions, that I’d offer to buy them some Microdiet? Reason being that some people have thought I was out of my mind for actually doing something of the sort recently.

Well if I had to stereotype I’d say yes, On the average most people back home are considered too big for my taste. I guess I’m thin myself so I prefer women tiny. But to their credit, back in the states, they’ve got thinner ankles and straighter teeth. Ha! I love it. I could never be this obnoxious of a pig on my own blog.
And by the way if you’re comparing “Japanese beauty standards.” vs. a N. American’s, you can see what the media/general public believes is beautiful by comparing models from some major lingerie company’s catalogs. i.e. Japan’s Peach John catalog vs. America’s Victoria’s Secret catalog. The image of the standard “beautiful woman” is quite different.
So let me understand what some of you are saying here: Males are allowed to be shallow/obnoxious/rude in order to objectify women into mere objects because of GEOGRAPHY?!
Reality check:
If you didn’t have any class to begin with, it doesn’t matter which side of the line you reside on.
No we are just saying that there are more beautiful women here than in North America and if that makes us obnoxious and rude in your eyes well that’s just unfortunate.
Personally, I’m not shallow/obnoxious/rude BECAUSE of geography per se. I’m all three just because it’s a small part of my personality. I am what I am regardless of my location on this vast planet.
And it does matter to me that I reside on the Japan-side of “line” that you’re talking about ( I assume it’s the Japan-North American line that you’re referring to.) Because that line would geographically be over 5000 miles wide. And I being the afformentioned shallow/obnoxious/rude person that I am, am also practical. So the proximity to the type of women on this side, to me, matters a whole lot.
face it everybody in this world is judgemental…
we judge woman wether they are fat/skinny and woman judge men wether we are hot/not…
intelligent or stupid… etc…
it’s so easy for females to say let’s not objectify them based on looks but in the real world looks is all that matters to people in general. ideally it should be all about personality but we are human. personality comes 2nd.

But basically there are good looking people in every country, although as Roy noted it’s the percentage of good looking people that makes the difference in perception…
