I was writing some posts throughout January on this new site but I didn't make it live until a few days ago so you wouldn't have seen them anyways. Nice to hear from you by the way!

I swear I have coming here on and off since Nov last year to see if you have come out of hiding to post new entries. I've been seeing that GR post until today. There have been quite a number of posts since January....have I been in some kind of a blog warp or what?

Great to see you posting again.
P/S Dun think Edison was in much deep shit. Many guys must be secreting harbouring fantasies of being in his shoes pre-scandal, anyway, he's got new roles in Hollywood apparently.

true, I forgot Imagemacick was actually ok with resizing if using the right options
however, I've never heard of any plugin that would do what you want, and a quick google search didn't turn up anything interesting

I think you're going to have to play around with Automator to do this, which is probably better than coding up such a plugin from scratch

Agree about GD but when I was using movabletype all my thumbnails were generated by Imagemagick and I thought they were good enough.

the problem with having your server do the thumbnails is that whatever process GD or Imagemagick uses to resize photos, it always end up looking like crap, with artifacts and aliasing
Flickr might restrict you to its own specific sizes, but at least their thumbs look nice and crisp
