30 years ago today our lives were profoundly changed. Today is the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars. Anyone old enough can remember exactly where they were. I did not see the movie on this day but I recall staring at a colour photo of C3PO and R2D2 in the Toronto Star for a long time, and then carefully cutting out that photo to paste in a scrapbook. It was truly a spiritual moment. So tonight, go home, make some popcorn and watch the Star Wars trilogies AGAIN (you too Eddie) May the force be with you!

Hahahahahaha… saw that coming.
Well, I was recently interviewed by a major US online entertainment website regarding the 30th Star Wars anniversary. Whether my interview will be used is another thing…

Are you on vacation or something? Lotta blog posts today.

Nothing wrong with that, of course.

I remember clearly the day I saw the TV commercial for the first time. It was on CKY out of Winnipeg – one of the 5 channels we got in North Dakota in 1977. I think it was the shot of the Falcon going to lightspeed that got me to look up. I literally went and sat in front of our big counsel TV. I wanted to live in Canada so bad because I thought Star Wars was only there.

And yes, I would absolutely say Star Wars had a profound effect on my life. I think tonight I will dig up all the SW stuff I STILL have after 30 years. I know I have 2-3 dozen action figures.

“Popcorn pictures have always ruled. Why do people go and see these popcorn pictures when they’re not good? Why is the public so stupid? That’s not my fault. I just understood what people liked to go see, and Steven (Spielberg) has too, and we go for that.”
