Canon Powershot G10

Canon Powershot G10
Everyday for the last 5 days I’ve received an email from a stranger asking me why I’m not updating this blog anymore. I guess it must be a sign or something urging me to get back to it. Truth is I’ve been quite busy with other things (not an excuse) and haven’t been able to give much priority to blogging. However, yesterday I picked up a new toy which might get me back into the blogging mode, a Canon Powershot G10. I’m not replacing my beloved GR in case you’re wondering. I’ve always like the Powershot G series but have never owned one due to the size and the lack of important features to me like a wide angle lens. Now that they’ve finally put in a half decent 28mm f2.8 lens I thought it was time. I won’t go into my impression of the camera as there are enough reviews of it already, but basically it’s fine. Not outstanding, but it’ll do the job. Compared to the GR it’s missing something I can’t quite explain. I guess the images just seem more “digital” with the G10 while the GR images seem more like “film” even though it’s a digital camera too.

Anyways, I’ll be heading to Hong Kong next week for work. It’ll be a good opportunity for me to put the G10 thru the ringer. And then a much needed weekend away to Macau just before Xmas. Hopefully, the Casinos at the Venetian will be nice to me and give me a big fat return!

Hurray! You’re back. :-) And your comments are on again. If you end up posting some pictures, well, that’d be pretty cool, but I can see where your enthusiasm (as well as your free time) might be diminishing. Congratulations on the new toy and have a safe trip to Hong Kong.

Actually, I wouldn’t mind reading your take on the Canon. If you use it on your trips, maybe you could do a write up of it.

Good to see you’re back, I’ve always liked your blog and kept visiting weekly to see if anything new popped up ;). I understand it’s hard to keep blogging, I’ve got a blog myself but I don’t post regularly just because life gets in the way.
Have some safe and relaxing trips!

Good to see you back at it. The one good thing about your absences is that I had to go find other sources for my Tokyo fix.

If by “stranger” you mean someone you haven’t seen on this site before, might be that there are new people discovering your site. The old posts are still great reading/viewing. I go back into your archives a lot.

Glad to see an update here, at last!
Enjoy yourself in Hong Kong, though now with the Avian flu outbreak there, guess you might need to be cautious.

Have fun in HK. It should be cheap for you since the Yen is so strong now. Glad to see you updating your blog again.

Hey there. I found your blogsite by accident, was searching for a review of a G10 which I recently purchased. I like the entries you posted, how I wish I was also in Japan to see all the weird-yet-interesting things in Japan. Check out my blog mohdshaza.blogspot.com.
