Tailgaters

A few weekends ago, I was leaving for a drive when I looked into the rear view mirror to see my friends Mayumi and Ken waving at me. They live close by so I would hardly call it a coincidence. The traffic was slow so I had time to pull out the GR and snap a few.
Are they in a FIAT?
so what?… (italiagin desu…)
Yes it’s a FIAT.
they are precisely in a yellow Fiat Punto (Cabrio?…)
Roy. No doubt you have answered this before many times but could you once again? Why do you erase the licence plate on cars?
You can look up information of the owner of cars based on the license plate. In Japan at least, covering up the license out of courtesy is a given. Everyone does it.
I agree with Roy, since a short time you can look up all kinds of info of cars based on the license plate in the Netherlands too.
I wouldn’t like people showing my license plate everywhere, if I had a car that is…
Thank you gents. Now I know. License plate cover up. It furthers my belief that the Japanese are overly secretive; from curtains closed to non-addresses. And yet I can walk down the street and make a note of anyone’s car info. Everything is nearly illuminated. I will respect the courtesy. Thank you.
