Oh what a glorious day! Yes, my long awaited roadster has arrived and I went to pick it up this afternoon. I drove it 10km home and had a hard time trying to keeping the RPMs down. Even in the rush hour traffic it was so much fun to drive. I had a silly grin on my face all the way home. It’s roadster to the core and then some. I can’t wait until the breaking in period is over and I can really really let it loose (Geez, I sound like Takumi from Initial D) Actually I’m a fairly safe, conservative driver but there is something about this car that makes me want to go faster!! One of the first thoughts I had as I pulled out of the dealer and felt the added power this car had was “Man, I’m not going to pass the JLPT Level 1 this year” I don’t think I will be able to sit quietly and study for the test unless it rains everyday until Dec. 5th.

(1) My sales guy wasn’t around because I got there a hour earlier than we agreed, but my car was there with all the wrapping still on it, so I took some pictures and inspected the car (2) Here it is at the entrance of my garage (3) And in my parking space. These photos are not that great. I’ll have to take better ones later on.

(1) The odometer at the dealer’s when I picked up the car (2) After I arrived home. The meters on the new roadster twitch when you turn on the ignition like it’s coming alive. It’s really cool. You can see that in the concept movie.
OK, this post is going to be pretty short. I’m going to go and look at my car now!

Congratulations! And don’t forget: buckle up.
Thanks J. It’s a really fun car! I highly recommend everyone get one!
Hey Roy, Kzy again!
I’m okay, thx 4 reply too.
WOW!! finally you got your lovely NC now, oh looks stunning and shinny!! I’m so jelous!!
I imagine your NC makes you feel ten feet tall,
Yeah as you stated a lighter-cluch on NC must be much more suitable for the traffic in Tokyo, anyway “Jinba-Ittai” is exactly same for any Roadster, I believe.
You need to drive your NC somewhere to see “KO-YO”
you know, typical Japanese autumn thing, don’t ya? well forget about the JPLT test for now.
Enjoy with your new partner at first!
Cheers!
Kzy
very spiffy i like it! good work.
Where is a good place to see KO-YO without getting stuck in traffic??
Well if you really want to avoid traffic jam, I would go to Shinjuku-Gyoen, Ko-yo with skyscraper mixture is quite nice contrast. Parking is also there.
Congratulations, it looks magnificent. I am extremely jealous. :)
The NC is not yet for sale in Europe, and the official presentation will be held in November (!!!), here in Portugal, in Algarve.
Can’t wait to see it in the metal…
Have lots of fun!
Sahweeet! Is that 4 km on the odometer when you picked it up? Pretty good. I had more when I picked up my Honda in Hawaii back in the day. I always wondered what they do with it before they deliver it to the customer. How many miles till it gets broken in? 500 miles? I bet it’s killing you. I double-dare you to check if you can make the tires chirp on the 2nd to 3rd gear shift! ;)
Filipe: Better not test drive one. It will only make you want one.
Rick: Yep, 4km when I picked it up. I heard that in the US sometimes they let people test drive the cars they have in stock before selling it. In Japan, usually if you buy a new car it comes directly from the factory so you know no one else has driven it.
The break in period is 1000km, for the first 300km I try not to rev past 3000RPM, after that it’s 4000RPM for the next 300km and then 5000RPM etc…although I have to say I have already hit the redline a few times.
Tires chirp? I wouldn’t have a clue how to do that…maybe you can show me sometime? On second thought…maybe not ;)
When I used to drag race my car in Hawaii, the 1 to 2 shift would always chirp if you just stood on the throttle. It doesn’t exactly make the best trap time because that power doesn’t go to the floor, it goes to waste and just shows how bad of a driver you are. More powerful cars could would chirp even in the higher gears. Cars with the best times would hardly make any tire noise and just roar down the track.
But just for fun, if you could make your tires lose traction in the taller gears, people thoughy, damn, that that car puts out a lot of power. Lemme know if you need help one day. ;)
hehe….envy u man.
have fun driving it.
btw….how does the car smell??? :)
